Not much time to actually pontificate on anything but let’s throw out some good links. That’s always good for something, isn’t it?
Chicago as seen in 100 BULLETS: (link found via Jason at Phoning It In) Chicago writer Brian Azzarello takes the Tribune on a tour of Chicago locations that have appeared in his Vertigo series 100 Bullets.
Azzarello says: “What’s so interesting about Chicago is that it’s so segregated. That’s not a good thing. But it is one of the things about Chicago that defines it. Cubs and White Sox, rich and poor–we’re so damned territorial. I wanted that flavor, and I wanted to make sure we call things by their names.”
And then there’s a preview of Darwyn Cooke’s adaptation of Richard Stark’s Parker: The Hunter at Preview World and accompanying article. The artwork looks gorgeous. Cooke’s normal retro style takes on a timeless quality in this graphic novel. And if The Hunter isn’t enough Cooke, Twomorrow’s has Modern Masters Volume 23: Darwyn Cooke. The Modern Masters books are almost always essential reads.
