With this weekend’s announcement of the cancellation and relaunch of Ultimate Spider-Man without Stuart Immonen, I fleetingly imagined that the followup announcement would be a relaunch of Immonen and Warren Ellis’s Nextwave. But even as I fancied that notion last night, I figured that it was probably more pipe dream than reality.
This morning, a post on Immonen’s blog caught my eye:
1. There are three copies of 50 Reasons remaining in the store.
2. …
3. I guess that’s it, really.
4. New Avengers!
“New Avengers!” What’s up with that? Over the course of the title, New Avengers has had a rotating lineup of artists so it’s well within the realm of possibility to imagine that Billy Tan’s days are limited. Could Immonen be taking a shot at New Avengers or, at least, an annual or mini?

I think it was announced at NYCC starting with issue #55 of New Avengers.
I would much rather have Nextwave back or Immonen on FF with Aaron but I will buy Immonen on anything.
It was announced at NYCC this weekend, indeed — Immonen is leaving Ultimate Spider-Man when it concludes to jump on One Of The 18 Avengers Titles that don’t deserve him. David LaFuente is good, but I want my Immonen Ultimate Spidey! Wah! I’m a comic whiner!
