A couple of trades, two crossover events, a Kevin Huizenga book and an issue of The Comics Journal. This week looks to be a nice, varied week.
- Final Crisis #4
- Final Crisis Submit #1– It’s another strong Final Crisis week with two Grant Morrison penned books even though I have to say that I don’t care for Black Lightning too much. Hope this doesn’t end up being another “character-development” piece like that Geo Force story tried to be.
- Northlanders Vol 1 Sven The Returned TP– I don’t know if I really care about emo vikings but I really dig Brian Wood’s aggressive and varied writing. Wood has done such a varied amount of stories that I can’t quite peg what it is I like about his work other than there’s a dangerous and subversive subtext to it all.
- Secret Invasion #7– Fight! Dog pile!! Damn, dirty Skrulls!
- Criminal 2 #6– Easily the best book out right now. I’ll miss this one when it goes on hiatus for while the creative team works on Incognito
- Sky Doll HC– I’ve decided to get the Soliel books in these collected forms. I look forward to actually reading this one.
- Or Else #5– I like Huizenga’s cartooning style and it helps that, having lived in Grand Rapids MI as well, I recognize some of his locales.
- Warren Ellis Aetheric Mechanics GN — I’ve read an awful lot of Warren Ellis stuff in the past couple of weeks. Bullocks and where’s my filfthy assistants?
- Comics Journal #293– I really don’t know much about S. Clay Wilson so this should hopefully be an interesting introduction.
