"We seem to forget that Sam Malone was more than just a bartender–he was an alcoholic, too." That simple line from Matt puts comic retailing in a whole different light. I'm off to the shop in about an hour and debating whether to have an intervention for the guy behind the register.

Check out the previews for Volumes 1 & 2. I've already got these ordered.

"Some fans have begun “waiting for the trade.” That means instead of buying their favourite titles each month, they wait for the companies to collect a story arcs in graphic novel format (called a trade paperback in the industry)."
I love that "news articles" now have to explain "waiting for the trade" to a general audience.

"So I decided to start a network where people from across the world might come together and get a conversation started over me. Where it will lead, I don't know but the world would be a better place if everyone talked a little more to each other…"
Yeah, I'm not too sure why we need this either.

"I beat into the heads of my screenwriting students that if you are writing for the screen, big or small, you are writing for performance (and not just for the actors, but we will take that up some other time). The actors have to be able to do what you want them to do and say what you write for them to say."

I meant to link to this a while ago but check out this artwork, made to benefit the Totoro Forest Project. If the name "Totoro" isn't familiar to you, rush out and look for any DVD that has the name Hayao Miyazaki on it, particularly MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO.

"Here's the thing: the main storyline and the high concept is just the rod in your closet. It's all the clothes hanging off the rod — some neatly pressed, others slightly wrinkled with character — that are the interesting parts."

I'm surprised that not many people have compared Allred's continuing action in this issue to that issue of Nextwave that Ellis and Immonen did a couple of years ago but I don't know if their's was truly as seamless as Allred's is. Scolling through this image almost gives it an animated feel as you follow the character and just fill in the action and movement in your own head. Although, in someways, seeing it like this also reminds me of old Colorform sets.

Grant Morrison explains it all.
