I’m catching up on a number of podcasts this morning. Due to how some work/commute stuff has developed over the past couple of months, my listening time has dropped drastically but there are days at work where I can sit and listen for a bit. Usually when I get to catch up, I’ve got certain podcasts that I try to catch up with first. This morning already, I’ve listened to Bruce and Derek and now I’m listening to Chris. The other day, I caught up with Chris, Vince, David & Wood and then with John. And there’s still a couple that are in the list that need to get caught up on..
So what do all of these have in common?
One way or another, all of these guys are friends. Either through email, at cons or occasionally just hanging out online or offline, I consider all of these guys friends to one degree or another. And like dealing with other friends, I don’t always agree with them and have gotten into small spats with them. But only a couple of them are in Chicago. But they’re also in Pennsylvania, New York and Detroit.
I may not always agree with them but listening to their podcasts gives me a chance to hear from some friends. It’s a way to keep caught up with them when I’m not constantly talking to them. I’ve whittled down most of my regular podcasts to people that I know in some capacity or another, share emails with, talk with on forums and occasionally get together with.

Thanks, friend. I’m going to whittle down my list the same way.

I probably could have mentioned that this post is part of my reaction to CBN #128 or whichever episode the mailbag one was. I just listened to it this morning and have been thinking it over quite a bit.

I seem to be heading in that direction as well. I download a few shows that I never have time to listen to. But the ones that are ‘can’t miss’ are the ones by my friends.
Great post, Scott.
