I’ve gotten a couple of reviews out last week but it’s amazing how my mind hasn’t been able to really think about comics since the overload that was Wizard World Chicago. I hope my mind gets back to normal next week.
- Final Crisis Requiem #1 — I wasn’t going to get this but I think I’ve become a sucker for anything Final Crisis and I’ve really gotten to enjoy Doug Mahnke’s artwork lately.
- Justice Society Of America Vol 3 #17– It’s been fun lately. Let’s hope that Johns can continue but I’m really waiting for the Ordway-drawn annual at this point.
- New York Four GN– Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly together again. Why, it almost feels like it’s only been a month since we last saw this pairing? What do you mean that it has only been a month since Local #12? Honestly, the Minx line has left me kind of cold so far. The few books I’ve read have ranged from over-hyped to o.k. but Wood is one of my favorite
- Captain Britain And MI 13 #3 (Secret Invasion Tie-In)– I wonder if the title character will show up this issue?
- Invincible Iron Man #3 Salvador Larroca Cover– I don’t know if I have an issue with Matt Fraction or with the character of Pepper Potts for throwing what appears to be an alcoholic beverage in a known alcoholics face last issue. I have a feeling that I should be blaming the character but it’s such an odd moment that I wonder what the heck Fraction was thinking or trying to do there.
- Secret Invasion #4 Regular Gabriele Dell Otto Cover– I wonder if the Avengers will get out of the Savage Land this issue and find out how Jarvis #$%^! them over.
- Annihilation Conquest Book 2 HC– I love cosmic Marvel and the strange twist they’ve taken to turn cosmic Marvel into Marvel’s current war books.
- Criminal Vol 3 Dead And Dying TP– Great stuff though the last chapter of this book gets rather heavy.
- Berlin #16– This is another one of those issues that I’m not getting but this means that the second collection should be out in a month or two. It’s been so long since I’ve read Berlin that I need to find my copy of the first collection and reread it.
- Kyle Baker Nat Turner SC– I read the original first issue of this and have been waiting for this collection to finally come out.
- Comic Foundry Magazine Vol 1 #3 Summer 2008– I’ve liked this magazine so far. It’s like an Entertainment Weekly but for comic geeks. Not a lot of in-depth content but last issue’s Fraction interview was good. This issue focuses on Blair Butler and I’m kind of curious to see what she has to say.
