Star Wars Rebellion #14– I’ve gotten the last couple of issues of this just for Colin Wilson’s art, a fantastic blend of Moebius and Walt Simonson. Wilson’s art on Star Wars Legacy reminded me of the short Simonson run on Marvel’s Star Wars comics that featured the strong inking of Tom Palmer. So I picked up the last couple of issues of Rebellion and found an enjoyable story. I wish they’d give Wilson his own Star Wars book on a permanent basis.
- Absolute Sandman Vol 3 HC– I don’t care what anyone says, Neil Gaiman’s Sandman is still one of my favorite series of the last 20 years. I’ve loved the two previous Absolutes and can’t wait to get this one but it’ll probably be a Wizard World Chicago purchase, even if I’m already dreading the idea of lugging this thing around Rosemont with me. This book contains the story Brief Lives which is still my favorite smaller personal story from the series.
- Elephantmen #12– And we’re back to the regular series again after the 3-issue War Toys mini. I can’t remember much of what is going on but I wonder if Starkings will begin to reveal the larger story he’s telling here.
- Madman Atomic Comics #9– Please, please, please, please let something good happen here.
- Captain Britain And MI 13 #2 — This is one of those books that shocked me with how much I enjoyed it. For a Secret invasion crossover, the first issue played it just right using the background action to introduce the characters. And I’m always a sucker for Leonard Kirk artwork.
- newuniversal shockfront #2– I liked the first issue of this new mini but I’m still undecided if I keep on getting it or now. At least it now has the superpowered football player in it.
- Secret Invasion Who Do You Trust– And speaking of Leonard Kirk, this one shot features a bunch of short stories but I’m most eager to see the Agents of Atlas story in this book. Jeff Parker and Leonard Kirk need to get an ongoing Agents of Atlas series.
- Sky Doll #2– Haven’t read the first issue yet. Looking more forward to Universal War One or whatever the next Soliel series is called.
- Local #12– This has been a journey that I’ve enjoyed as Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly have explored a period of time around their central character Megan. I’m looking forward to seeing where her journey ends.
who’s been bad-mouthing Neil Gaiman?? i’ve sporked out people’s eyes for less.
well, maybe not but i’d be sorely tempted.
i still need to purchase Absolutes 1 & 2.
