It’s been a months since I’ve gotten a DCBS shipment and that’s been too long. And this box looks to be a great one, featuring everything from JSA to Ganges to Mike Allred to Hopey Glass. But before that hits, here’s a bunch of stuff I’m getting or am interested in.
- BPRD Vol 8 Killing Ground TP– I really need to catch up on this whole series but I can’t wait to get my hands on this book. I heard a lot of good things about the story in this volume and almost broke down and bought the individual issues. Guy Davis has to be one of the best artists around that no one’s talking about while Mike Mignola and John Arcudi’s stories have been creepy and genuinely tense.
- Action Comics #864– I think I may have already dropped this series but if this series is an epilogue to the previous LSH story, I’ll probably end up picking the issue up. The solicitation text at DCcomics.com is extremely vague but I thought that Johns was calling this issue “Batman and the Legion of Super-Heroes” which is enough to me to pay for it.
- DC Universe Zero – As a fanboy, I think I’ll enjoy this but honestly I’m not expecting too much out of this book other than $0.50 of entertainment and that’s not a lot. It sounds to piece-meal to deliver anything remotely satisfying other than being a teaser into Final Crisis.
- Legion Of Super-Heroes Vol 5 #41– Enjoyed the last issue more than I’ve enjoyed most of Shooter’s run so far. Something better happen soon.
- Elephantmen War Toys #3– American comics with a European flavor produced by Europeans. I’m running out of things to say about this series, Richard Starking’s excellent writing and Moritat’s wonderful artwork.
- Immortal Iron Fist #14– Is this the last issue for Brubaker and Fraction?
- New Avengers #40 — Skrulls! SKRULLS!!!!
- Glamourpuss #1 — Dave Sim is back.
- Black Summer #6 — Finally. Unless I’m mistaken, it’s taken a while for this book to come out, hasn’t it? Ellis’s story
- Nat Turner TP — O.k. I’m kind of confused here. I could swear that this is on my current DCBS order form for June books. What’s up with that?
- Thoreau At Walden HC– I ordered this one sight unseen because it appeals to the recovering English major in me.
- Tezukas Dororo Vol 1 GN– More Tezuka is always a good thing but for some reason, I haven’t been able to get into things like MW or Kitaro’s Ode while loving Buddha, Phoenix and Apollo’s Song. I’ll have to flip through this whenever I come across it and see what it looks like. I may end up trying to get more volumes of Buddha and Phoenix before diving into this book.
