How soon they forget. Or R.I.P. Jim Mooney

By Scott Cederlund in comics

Reading over the obits for Jim Mooney, I’m struck that he began his career in 1940 and lasted over 30 years in the profession because I remember the Spider-Man books that he drew in the 80s. That’s a career that spanned four decades.

How many creators working today have a career like that or will have a career like that? John Byrne comes to mind as does George Perez right now. But who else is still producing mainstream work 30 and 40 years after their career started?

Has comic fandom lost all sense of its history?
