The Secret of the Wednesday’s Haul

With all the talk lately of breaks and podcast burnout, I had debated not posting this but…

Wednesday’s Haul: The Podcast is taking a break and has been taking one for almost a month now. There are a number of reasons for this but the main one is that I just haven’t felt like doing a podcast for a while, even before the beginning of the year and I don’t want to keep cranking them out because I “need” to. I haven’t looked forward to doing them for a while so instead of forcing myself or feeling guilty when another week goes by that I don’t record, I’m just going to officially sit out for the next 3-4 weeks and re-evaluate what I want to do.

This next part is just my opinion and I don’t really want to start a whole brou-ha-ha over anything but I think in the last 6-12 months that a lot of comic book podcasts have started to sound the same. Whether I’m listening to XYZ or PDQ talk about whatever they want, it all is beginning to run together in my mind, my own podcast included. At the beginning of the year, I made a comment about not wanting my show notes to look the same as everyone else’s but that’s what I think is happening. There’s too many voices and not enough divergence of topics, view points or even voices.

I applaud all the podcasters who turn out something on a weekly basis. Derek, Chris and Bruce are three of my podcasting inspirations and I’m amazed at how all three of them approach podcasting from a different perspective and are able to bring something fresh and new to it most of the time. And I don’t think I’ve made any secret of it but blog/review writing is more fun and enjoyable for me.
