Is this @#%! year over yet? 2008 can’t get here fast enough. Here’s what I’m getting this week:
All Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder #8– How many issues of this have come out this year? Jim Lee seems to have tripled his 2006 output. I can understand why this book pisses off so many people and I think I’m going to hold off total judgement on this series until I can read the first 8 or 9 issues together. It’s kind of, sort of fun on an issue to issue basis but I wonder if Miller’s repeating the “goddamn Batman” joke too many times now. In fact, I’m kind of certain that he is.
Death of the New Gods #3– Nothing about this series has been exceptionally good so far but I can’t help but watch and read. It’s like a car accident that you want to look away from.
Green Lantern Corps #18– I think I’m enjoying this title more than the regular GL title during Sinestro Corps. If nothing else, check out the second trade of the main title (probably actually the third GLC trade after the mini) for some excellent stories.
Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #36– Why is it taking so long to get to Jim Shooter’s story?
Age of Bronze V3– I’ve got the first two trades but have never completely read them. I may need to rectify that soon.
Casanova #11– This may be my favorite series of 2007 as it’s one of the best combinations of writing and artwork. I hope Ba and Moon continue to alternate arcs on this series.
Madman Atomic Comics #5– The Atomics are back!! I’ve missed this team.
Popgun V1 GN– I’m very intrigued by this anthology. Image Comics have been instrumental in some great anthologies the last couple of years but this one seems to be made up of a lot of Image mainstays. I’m expecting very mixed results with this book.
Daredevil #102– What is there to say? I’m expecting a really good and technically strong book.
Dan Dare #1– Garth Ennis does absolutely nothing for me but from the previews I saw over on Newsarama, Gary Erskine’s artwork looks fantastic. I’ll definitely be checking this one out at the shop.
