Booster Gold #2– This issue fell flat to me. It didn’t have any of the charm or fun that the first issue set up. I enjoyed the nudge and wink attitude of the first issue but this one took itself way too seriously. And what’s with Jurgens only doing the layouts? This issue wasn’t as super-heroically slick as the first one. I may give this one or two more to convince me that they didn’t shoot their wad in the first issue.
Green Lantern #23– I’m enjoying this event but something major needs to happen soon. We should be roughly in the middle of it but not much has happened since the special. I need something BIG to keep my attention. Oddly, I don’t feel a rhythm to this event.
Potter’s Field #1– Mark Waid wants to be Warren Ellis when he grows up. I love Paul Azaceta’s artwork.
Casanova #9– haven’t read yet.
New Avengers #34– Did the Hood shoot Wolverine’s dangly parts off? Is that what happened here? Obviously Bendis is going to use New Avengers to explore all the sexual tension among superheroes because that’s mostly what this issue is about.
Justice League of America Wedding Special– Dammit I so much wanted to drop this title but the Special may have convinced me to give McDuffie a chance. And it had Tommy Tomorrow in it! But I can’t stand the redesign of Luthor’s armor.
Justice Society of America #9– Possibly the best issue of the series so far. I love the firehouse scenes with all the kids and the fight. This issue reminded me what I loved about JSA. And Eaglesham’s artwork is fantastic, particularly the two page spread with the heroes and the JSA racing to the fire.
Daredevil #100– haven’t read yet.
Pulphope– For some reason, I’ve really been getting into Paul Pope’s artwork lately so I had to pick this book up. I like the expressiveness and boldness of his brush stroke.
