Comics weekly shopping list– 7/25/07

By Scott Cederlund in Previews

You can tell it’s a con week because there’s a lot of stuff out.

  • 52 V2 TP– I never sat down to reread the whole v1. Maybe now that I have the first half of the story collected I’ll try and read it again. I think that this is where the writers really settled into a groove and where the story really came together.
  • All Star Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder #6– Two issues in one year? Surely this is a sign of something. In a couple of weeks, I’ll be doing a Frank Miller Dark Knight series and will talk more about this series then.
  • Countdown #40– I was all set to drop this series but the last page of #41 may have pulled me back in. I’m such a sucker for the Legion of Super-Heroes.
  • Green Lantern Corps #14– I’ll pick this up because of the Sinestro Corps War crossover.
  • Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #32– Dennis Calero begins the art with thhis issue and I’ve been impressed with the work of his I’ve seen so far. Last week’s Countdown was the best looking issue so far.
  • 24 Seven Volume 2 GN– You know, I don’t think I’ve read the first collection. I think I’ll read this and Flight together and get some whip-lash.
  • Elephantmen #10– One of the best titles out right now, it’s been consistently entertaining.
  • Immortal Iron Fist V1 HC– I’ve read the first issue and have held out for this collection. Two of my favorite writers on a great character. Billionaire kung fu hero.
  • Incredibly Hulk #108– So far the crossover issues have been good but unnecessary. I wonder if that’ll change before the end of the event.
  • Mighty Avengers #4– Maybe female Ultron is really a skrull?
  • Buffy The Vampire Slayer #5– an interlude issue, isn’t it?
  • Grendel: Behold the Devil #0– It looks like it’ll be a while before this series really begins– at least November now.
  • Hellboy Darkness Calls #4– Duncan Fedrego was a good choice as artist on this series.
  • Black Diamond #3– I’m not even trying to guess what’ll be in this issue. I’ve been totally wrong for both of the first two issues.
  • Black Summer #1
  • Doktor Sleepless #1
  • Warren Ellis Crecy GN I guess Warren Ellis took over Avatar this week.
  • Queen & Country #32– I have no idea what happened before this issue.
  • Postcards True Stories That Never Happened– The second interesting anthology this week.
  • Modern Masters V12 Michael Golden-- I’ve been looking forward to this spotlight on Golden for a while now. Hopefully the interview will be better than the last couple have been.
