TV Squad is linking to another article elsewhere on the net about the return of Farscape as webisodes, those cute li’l 10 minute productions that Sci-Fi can throw up on their website to satisfy the most rabid fan.
The “Farscape” franchise will live on as a live-action Web series. Sci Fi Channel executive Craig Engler confirmed that the company has closed a deal with The Jim Henson Company for a 10-episode webisode series. So far no stars or writers are signed to appear and no story plotted, but if successful, the project could lead to re-igniting the franchise on the air.
Now I was a fan of this series; it was trippy enough to be entertaining and occasionally rose to the levels of very, very good. It played around psychologically with it’s main character more than most sci-fi shows would dream of doing. But unless I’m missing something, are a lot of people clamoring for this shows return? If I can remember, I may check these out whenever they show up on line but Sci-Fi’s past Battlestar Galactica webisodes are actually quite forgetful and added little to the series. I wonder if something like this would work better with a non-serial TV show. If they did something like this with Doctor Who, I’d really be interested.
Now that I think of it, was that what the BBC did with the Sarah Jane show?
