Brave and the Bold #5– Cyborg Batman vs. The Legion of Super-Heroes– what’s there not to like? The fact that it’s drawn by George Perez is just the icing on the cake.
Checkmate #16– Wow, Checkout really petered away at the end there, didn’t it? It restores my faith in the fact that Judd Winick isn’t the world’s strongest writer around. I’m glad to see this title get back on track with intrigue and espionage.
Countdown #41– I think I may have reached my breaking point with this series. I’ve preordered it for two more months but I don’t know if I’ll end up ordering the September issues.
Justice League of America #11– Ah, a title I know I’ll be dropping in two months. Honestly while I like Dwayne McDuffie, I don’t get what all the fuss is about. And the fact that he has to start wtih the Green Arrow/Black Canary wedding nonsense makes it easy for me to say bye-bye to this book for now. Really, I don’t know if I want to buy this issue. After I flip through it at the shop, it may end up back on the rack.
Spirit #8– Darwyn Cooke’s back. ’nuff said. Well, maybe not. If you haven’t checked it out, pick up his Batman Ego collection from a couple of weeks back. That’ll go nicely with the upcoming Spirit collection.
Godland V3 Proto Plastic Party TP– more Kirbyesque madness from Joe Casey.
Giant-Sized Marvel Adventures Avengers #1-- Jeff Parker and Leonard Kirk make their first return into the world of the Agents of Atlas, this time showing the team in their original incarnation in the fifties. Anytime we get to see the Agents of Atlas is a good time for me.
Nextwave Agents of HATE V2: I Kick Your Face HC– There’s no Fin Fang Foom but the big reveal of the big bad at the end is almost as good.
Still have to find Flight V4 and Monster V9 from last week. This is a light week. I’m kind of scared to see what next week and the pre-San Diego releases are going to be.
