Countdown #42– I felt nothing for the funeral of Bart Allen and feel even less about the character’s death. Long live Wally!
Elric Making of a Sorcerer TPB– Michael Moorcock’s Eternal Champion books are some of my favorite fiction and Elric has to be the most popular work of his. This four issue mini with Walter Simonson on artwork chronicles the early days of Elric, showing his schooling to the sorcerer/fighter he became.
Green Lantern #21– Ivan Reiss is back and I’m happy. Kicking off the Sinestro Corps war, I have high hopes for this series over the next few issues.
Justice Society of America #7– While I enjoyed it, I don’t think it was a good idea to have a crossover as the second major storyline of this new title. We just had two months that really didn’t focus on the JSA but more on the LSH.
Madman Atomic Comics #3– I really need to reread this whole series from the beginning.
Blade #11– only two more issues to go and, honestly, I won’t miss this series. It’s been fun while it lasted but it was rather disposable.
New Avengers #32– You want to know a dirty little secret? I’m a skrull.
Martha Washington Dies– I didn’t expect this for another month or two. This is a surprise release, bringing back a character and series that most people know next to nothing about. I hope DH puts out a nice trade collection of the Martha Washington stuff and doesn’t do one of the huge Sin City-like (i.e. $150) presentations.
Left On Mission #3– I just got around to reading the first couple of issues and now I’m happy to see the third issue out this week.
Flight V4– the best anthology of the past 4 years continues. Can’t wait to see the talent assembled for this volume. Most of the stories are rather slight but I think this book actually supports that well by having top-notch cartoonists contributing.
Nexus #99– I reviewed this a few weeks back. It’s good stuff for the long-time Nexus fan.
Naoki Urasawa’s Monster V9– I just got V8 a couple of weeks ago and haven’t read that one yet. How is this one already coming out?
While not necessarily on my shopping list this week, thesse are some other books of note:
Clubbing– The first Minx title that I really have little interest in. None of the previews of this title have looked exceptionally compelling.
Silverfish HC– I’ve never been a huge fan of David Lanpham but I know a lot of people are probably looking forward to this.
Annihilation Conquest Wrath & Nova #4– I just read the first 2 collections of Annihilation and they’ve been good space/cosmic opera. I’m curious about these but will probably end up waiting for the hardcover.
Rex Libris TP– I’ve heard a lot of good things about this series. I probably should have ordered the trade.
Spent HC– It’s been a long time since I read any Joe Matt. I wonder how this compares to his earlier work.
Atomica #8– When did this get solicited? The first 6 issues are a heavy, lumbering (but in a good way,) tome.
